Mahnaz Javanbakht, who is the scientific secretary of the 19th Iran Congress of Audiology, made the remarks speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the congress.
The professor noted that the number of people suffering from tinnitus is likely to increase with the rise in the use of audio devices.
She said that hearing examination should be done annually after the age of 40 because elderly people who have hearing loss and do not use hearing aids will face other complications.
Newborn hearing screening program is carried out at birth across the country, the professor said, adding that according to world statistics, there are three babies with hearing problems in every 1,000 births, and Iran's statistics are likewise.
